Introduction

Welcome to this page where you will find the devotional content as well as any other items given by the Moderator. We hope you find these of interest and that they stimulate your own service and Ministry within God's Kingdom.

Our current Moderator, The Reverend John Alastair Hilton Murdoch BA BD DPSS was born in Renfrewshire in 1952, with schooling at Kelvinside Academy, Glasgow and King Edward VI Camp Hill School, Birmingham, Mr Murdoch studied and graduated from the Universities of Durham, Edinburgh and St Andrews.

In 1979 he was Ordained in Palmerston Place Church, Edinburgh, where he had served his Probationary Year under the Reverend John Cumming, as a Minister of the Church of Scotland and Introduced to the Office of Chaplain to Her Majestys Forces, serving firstly as Padre to the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards in Germany and Northern Ireland and then to 1st and 2nd Battalions Scots Guards in Hong Kong, London and Cyprus.

After his military Service he became a Chaplain in boarding schools, notably Fettes College in Edinburgh, Christs Hospital in Sussex and Aiglon College in Switzerland.

As a Parish Minister he has ministered in Gibraltar, in Glamis, Inverarity and Kinnettles in Angus, and in Appin and Lismore in Argyll, from which Parish he came in 2006 to be the Minister of Largo and Newburn in Upper Largo, linked with Largo St Davids in Lower Largo.
